Canon is launching its four new RF lenses. You can take a look at our early hand-on thoughts.
It was a huge Canon event where the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 launching details has explained. Well, what else we get to know here was that the upcoming new RF lenses will be launched which is pretty exciting for users. For the users of Canon EOS RP, the Canon RF 85mm f/2 IS STM Macro is coming with a great deal. The other two new RF ultra-telephotos will launch as – Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM and RF 800mm f/11 IS STM. Moreover, the fourth will be a super-tele zoom Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM for wildlife and pro sports photographer. Here is our hand-on review on these lenses that can take you one step closer.
1 – Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM and RF 800mm f/11 IS STM
Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM – $699 / £750 / AU$1,360
Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM – $699 / £750 / AU$1,360
If you compare the lenses to traditional long lenses, then the 600mm or 800mm is ultra-portable. Well, using these lenses on the edges of pro sports fields will not be a good idea, still, it can find happy homes. These lenses are a doddle to use where on the twist and rotation of lock ring will telescope out. To fix the lense while you will be twisting back, the position will be extended. These are light weighted for 600mm – 930g and for 800mm 1.26kg. Even with the use of STM, these lenses have drawbacks like small aperture, risk of noisy shot, and motion-blurred shot. But image stabilization built-in features make the lenses better and will give enhanced image quality.
2- Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM
Price – $2,699 / £2,900 /AU$5,250
It’s a legendary prosumer lense with venerable Mark I predecessor. For even fairly ambitious safaris, it includes sensible focal length with 500mm lenses. It offers ultra-telephoto reach for photographers. The weighs is almost to 100-400mm but 13%lighter than 100-400mm as 1.37kg weight. It composes alleviates the steep learning curve while you start zooming in and out.
3- Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM
Price- – $599 / £650 / AU$1,180
It’s coming in most desirable L-series prime lenses that are more affordable. Well, it will be into most of the macro photographer’s Christmas lists. It has a maximum aperture, close-focusing distance, with ultimate image stabilization and around 35mm focal plane offering the 1:2 ratio of the image.
4- Canon Extender RF 1.4x and Extender RF 2x
Canon Extender RF 1.4x – $499 / £559 / AU$1,010
Canon Extender RF 2x – $599 / £699 / AU$1,265
For those, who have used an EF or EF-S mount lens, these lenses should adapt once. You can then use extenders on multiple RF-mount lenses of Canon. These may not be compatible with all of the RF lenses except Canon RF 100-500mm f, RF 600mm f, and RF 800mm f.
